Department of Technology and Information Management staff said the district has strengthened networks, replaced wireless infrastructure, and installed additional access points at every school building to provide faster and more reliable internet access.
Staff also said every instructional space across the district is now equipped with interactive boards to support classroom instruction. The district announced that high school freshmen will receive a "Chromebook Plus," described as a higher-capacity device with a larger screen intended to meet high school coursework demands and support college and career readiness. The district said support for school-issued devices has been enhanced with a more efficient replacement process and a free replacement available once per year when needed.
Officials emphasized professional development for teachers on instructional technology tools, including training on artificial intelligence, and noted the district is offering regular "family university" virtual sessions for caregivers to learn about digital responsibility and district resources. On safety, the district said it used Smart School Bond Act funding from the New York State Education Department to implement technical security upgrades this year, including security cameras, card-swipe door access, lockdown buttons, and police integration in every school building, and that a districtwide physical security audit is underway.
The video urged families to keep contact information current with their child—s school so the district can continue communications and to support digital citizenship at home. It concluded by inviting families to participate in future sessions and by stating the Department of Technology and Information Management will provide further updates during the year.
