City unveils public strategic-plan dashboard, staff say it improves transparency

The Oldsmar City Council heard a demonstration of the city's new public strategic-plan dashboard, a tool staff said will make performance measures and initiatives more accessible to residents and council members.
"My name is Jordan Lance, assistant to the city manager, and I'm here to show you the strategic plan dashboard," Lance told the council as he began a screen demonstration of the platform and how goals, objectives and performance measures are displayed. Lance said the city had about 269 performance measures across divisions and that the vendor-assisted audit led to retiring about 83 measures to focus reporting.
Lance showed dashboard pages for goals such as "quality of place" and fiscal responsibility, and highlighted features that link objectives to department work plans, grant management data and general-fund expenditures. He told council members the dashboard was updated in January and staff plan quarterly updates (the next update likely in April).
City Manager Felicia acknowledged Jordan's role as project manager for the transition and praised staff work to consolidate performance measures and create a public-facing interface.
Council members expressed support and interest in using the dashboard for quick access to data on events, website traffic and departmental performance. Staff said the dashboard will be placed on the city's website soon.
