Katy City Council on Jan. 26 approved a package of capital projects and financing intended to address drainage and mobility across the city, including a $4,197,887.25 contract award for the West Katy drainage improvement project that brings the total project cost to $4,959,061.25 when contingencies and prior design fees are included.
Council members voted to fund the West Katy drainage project with $3,358,720 from FY capital reserve (underground infrastructure) and approximately $1,000,049.61 from general fund reserves. City staff said construction is projected to begin with a move-in on March 9 and be substantially complete by next Christmas, with most pipe work occurring in street lanes and a mix of in-street and inlet installations.
