Princeton council approves sewer contract, multiple property sales and invoice batch

At its regular meeting, the Princeton City Council approved a set of fiscal and capital actions including a sewer contract award, two real‑estate sales and the approval of city invoices totaling $1,736,663.85.

City clerk Janet Hennings read departmental invoice totals and a motion to approve the invoices passed on a unanimous roll call. "In the Department of Accounts and Finances, we have $342,624.94; ... grand total of $1,736,663.85," the clerk reported.

On resolution R‑24‑013, staff recommended accepting Porter Brothers Construction’s bid for the Marion Street sanitary sewer replacement. Theresa (city staff) told the council the contract is to be awarded to Porter Brothers, the city’s responsibility would be $50,000 and the remainder will be paid with grant funds; three bids were received. The council approved the resolution by roll call.

The council also approved R‑24‑014 to authorize sale of a small lot at 429 East Washington Street; staff said the lot will be listed with a local realtor and placed on MLS. Separately, R‑24‑015 authorized sale of city property near 1117 North Church Street; staff said that parcel appraised at $90,000 and proceeds will help fund a new pad for the street department’s brush‑drop area to reduce flooding and improve access. Both resolutions passed on unanimous roll calls.

On surplus personal property, the council advanced ordinance O‑24‑013 to a second reading. Staff described multiple items for sale, including a 2016 International 7400 garbage truck that the city will keep a backup unit for brush pickup but otherwise will sell.

Each of these items passed or advanced by voice or roll call; the council scheduled the next regular meeting for July 1.
