The Woodland CCSD 50 board voted to approve Elizabeth Sanchez Zappesi as director of curriculum, assessment and accountability, effective July 1, 2025.
Board members expressed strong support for Zappesi’s background in bilingual/dual language coordination and language acquisition. Administration noted Zappesi began her Woodland career in 2006 as bilingual dual language coordinator, later became assistant director of language acquisition in 2018 and most recently served as director of the language acquisition program.
Zappesi said, "I feel like this is my home... I live in the community, my children go here, and now I've had 11 years and so I feel really passionate about what we do," and thanked the board for the opportunity.
The motion to appoint Zappesi was moved and seconded; a roll call vote recorded board members voting in favor and the motion carried 6‑0. The board noted the appointment supports the district’s dual language priorities and curriculum work.
