Representatives of the Downtown West Bend Association and The Bend Theatre provided event updates at the BID Board meeting on Feb. 3.
Phil of the Downtown West Bend Association summarized recent events, including the Polar Express winter cocktail and ice-sculpture programs, and said the association raised about $1,500 from participating bars to donate to the Full Shelf food pantry. Phil said the association is soliciting artists and sponsors for this year’s banner program and previewed upcoming events including Chocolate Around the Bend (a ticketed Valentine’s weekend event) and a small indoor market at the Eden Avenue event space.
“Through the about dozen bars that participated with that, $1,500 we’re gonna be donating to the full shelf, food pantry here in West Bend,” Phil said.
Noelle, representing The Bend Theatre, described a busy scheduling period with comedy, music and family programming in February, noted sold-out shows and upcoming fundraisers that benefit local organizations (for example, a Judson Brown Band show serving as a fundraiser for West Bend Power Hockey), and said the venue also handles private rentals and is adding more movie programming.
The board praised this year’s tree-lighting ceremony and social-media reach, with staff reporting strong engagement numbers for promotional videos and media partnerships. Staff said they will coordinate timeline details for taking down ice sculptures and will return with any planting and banner cost quotes at the March meeting.
Next steps: Downtown West Bend Association will continue banner artist/sponsor solicitation; The Bend Theatre will proceed with scheduled programming and fundraising events and coordinate with BID staff on promotional timing.
