Wausau Parks Committee unanimously renews Radke and Grace Park leases on airport land
Summary
The Parks Committee unanimously approved renewal of Radke Park and Grace Park lease agreements, which are biennial renewals required because park assets sit on airport-designated land and the airport must retain right to reclaim the land with notice.

The City of Wausau Parks Committee unanimously approved renewing lease agreements for Radke Park and Grace Park at its Feb. 2 meeting.
Staff member Jamie told the committee the leases are recurring renewals prepared by the city attorney’s office and typically come up every two years. Jamie explained the leases are necessary because park assets occupy land designated as airport property and the formal lease allows the airport to reclaim that land for aviation purposes with sufficient notice.
Alder Rasmussen said the leases had been developed to clarify land use and to document that the parks occupy airport property in areas not readily used for aviation. Alder Lukens moved to renew the leases and Alder Watson seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The committee did not attach additional conditions during the meeting. The renewal was described as a routine, housekeeping item for the Parks Committee and the airport committee, where the leases also receive review.
