Temple Terrace council reviews $50 million public-safety bond for new police station, possible fire station

City of Temple Terrace officials on Feb. 3 reviewed conceptual designs, cost estimates and financing options for a proposed public safety complex on a 5-acre parcel the city bought in 2024 at 7911 Harney Road.
City Manager (speaking at the work session) said the site, bought with Rollison Ranch sales proceeds for $1,600,000, could host either a police-only facility or a joint police and fire complex. ‘‘We are here today to discuss the public safety complex,’’ the City Manager told council as he opened the presentation.
The architects engaged for the project (PBK) provided two concepts: a police-only station of about 33,000 square feet with secure fleet parking and an indoor firing range, and a joint-site plan that adds a one-story, roughly 10,000-square-foot fire station with two apparatus bays and shared training and conference space.
Staff presented top-end cost estimates prepared from three cost estimators. For the police station, construction cost was listed at about $31,000,000, plus soft costs ($2,600,000) and furniture/fixtures/equipment (~$1,000,000), yielding a top-end estimate of roughly $34,600,000.
