Wetumpka proclaims National FFA Week; students describe shows and invite supporters

An identified presenter with many years in agricultural education praised the Future Farmers of America (FFA) for promoting leadership, service and career skills, and read the proclamation to the council and audience. Chloe Ward, the chapter’s officer, described the show team’s recent championships and reserve placings and said the team will compete at state in March; she invited the council and community to attend and support upcoming events.
Mckinben Torres, the chapter reporter, summarized student plans for National FFA Week, including a Tuesday visit to state legislators on Capitol Hill to discuss agricultural education and a Thursday supporters’ breakfast hosted by the chapter. The representatives said the program builds responsibility, technical skills and workforce readiness.
The FFA creed was recited in full during the meeting as a practice for district competition. The meeting’s Chamber-of-Commerce representative, Vanessa, praised the program and said local employers value FFA experience: "She got a dollar raise right off the bat when she went to Auburn and got a job with the Equestrian Center because she had learned how to drive the tractor in the Wetumpka FFA," Vanessa said.
The council thanked the students for attending and the mayor signed the proclamation before the meeting continued to regular agenda business.
