Ravena board says truck traffic on state road under study, plans meeting with state and county officials

Board members told residents on Feb. 3 they are pursuing multiple avenues to address truck traffic and safety on Main Street (state Route 144). The police chief has contacted the New York State Department of Transportation’s traffic management and safety division to request an informal speed and traffic study, the board said.
Board Member 1 said village, town and county officials and local industry representatives have been discussing options and will meet with State Senator Feige and Albany County Legislator Zach Collins on Feb. 12 to seek state and county assistance. The board emphasized it does not control the state road but plans to press for measures to slow and better manage commercial traffic.
No formal mitigation measures were adopted at the meeting; board members said they will update the public as the DOT study and the Feb. 12 meeting produce recommendations.
