The Verona Planning Commission voted Sept. 3 to recommend approval of a certified survey map that will combine two undeveloped lots in the Hometown Grove subdivision (Lot 23 and Lot 24) into a single roughly 15,000-square-foot parcel at 736 Mozart Street.
Planning staff explained the proposal and said two 6-foot-wide utility easements run between the existing lots; the applicant must coordinate the relocation of utility lines with Lion Energy, and the city has already received a letter from MG&E stating it has no use for the current easement. Staff recommended approval with the condition that written confirmation is provided by Lion Energy and the cable company that the easements may be vacated.
Commissioner Powers made the motion to recommend approval with that condition; Commissioner Harrison seconded and the motion passed. The recommendation now advances to the Common Council for final action. Staff noted that written confirmation from all affected utility companies will be required before any final vacation of easements is recorded.
