Everett council adopts resolution establishing charter review committee

The Everett City Council voted on Feb. 4 to adopt a resolution establishing a charter review committee and defining its responsibilities and procedures. "The charter review committee will have their first meeting in about a little over a week on February 12 at 04:30 at the Executive Municipal Building," Jennifer Brakeson, governmental affairs director, told the council.
Council member Beater moved the resolution and Council member Ryan seconded; the clerk conducted roll-call votes with the council recording unanimous support for the resolution. Brakeson said the committee will post meeting information on the city boards and commissions webpage, provide a Zoom link for public participation, and will hold two formally noticed public hearings as required by the resolution.
The council also confirmed that the 14 appointed committee members will select a fifteenth member and that members of the public may submit comments to staff for the committee’s consideration. Staff said they will post minutes and agendas on the city webpage and make recordings available after meetings.
