Grant County honors long-serving volunteer; sheriff reports January activity

The Grant County Fiscal Court presented Edward 'Junior' Hunter Jr. with an appreciation for 61 years of service to county residents and for his work with local fire response organizations. Court members thanked Hunter Jr. for his long service and invited attendees to refreshments in his honor.
Sheriff Dennis reported January activity to the court: 877 calls for service, 24 investigations, 35 arrests, 21 collisions including four injuries and one fatal collision, 104 citations, 140 summonses served, 224 auto inspections, 1,316 miles logged on fugitive transports and 56 hours of court-security duty. The presiding official thanked first responders and the road department for operating during difficult weather conditions.
The court expressed appreciation to emergency responders and encouraged residents to drive cautiously; the presiding official said they would raise the internal travel advisory from level 1 to level 2 as conditions warrant but did not declare an emergency. The court then moved to other business and later adjourned.
