Stark County commissioners approved a change to the county's Employee Assistance Program provider on Feb. 3 after staff recommended CHI as a lower-cost option that offers local in-person counseling options.
Joetta Percy explained the Village's EAP is fully virtual and that CHI offered a lower-cost contract with local providers who could see county employees in person if they choose. "They would be willing to contract with us and, it would actually be, cheaper for us to go with CHI than The Village," Percy said.
Commissioner White moved to change EAP providers and the commission approved the motion by voice vote.
Why it matters: An EAP provider change affects employee access to behavioral health services; staff said the initial contact would still be by phone but in-person follow-up options would be available under CHI.
