Five bids opened for Crown Point’s Edgewater stormwater project; board accepts bids for review

City staff opened and read five bids for the Edgewater stormwater project during the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting on Feb. 4, then asked the board to accept the submissions and forward them to engineering and legal for compliance review.
Alex (city staff) read the bid totals as follows: Gary Up Construction, $697,500; LGS Plumbing, $985,882; Austin Equipment, $668,432; M and J Underground, $298,680; Rimmer Construction, $945,786. Staff recommended the board accept the bids as received and allow the city’s engineering and legal teams to review them for compliance before returning to the board with a recommendation for contract acceptance.
Mayor Land said he agreed with past practice of accepting bids and returning with a compliance review. The board made a motion to accept the bids as submitted and the motion passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
Next steps: engineering and legal review for compliance and a return to the Board of Works with a recommendation for award once reviews are complete.
