Cassandra presented a request that the council appoint a city representative to the Smith County 9-1-1 Emergency Communication District board of managers for a two-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2027. She explained the district is governed by a board of managers under the Texas Health and Safety Code chapter 772 and that appointments are staggered two-year terms.
Cassandra said Ron Schafer, one of the two members appointed by participating municipalities, indicated he would be willing to continue serving if reappointed. Council moved, seconded and approved the appointment by voice vote. No objections or alternate nominees were recorded in the transcript.
