Kate Dietz, the city's utilities director, asked the council to adopt a resolution affirming the City of Tyler's application to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Voting Access Grant for design and construction of a public boat ramp and related voting‑access facilities at South Hill Creek (Lake Tyler). Dietz said the city would authorize the city manager to act on the city's behalf with the agency and commit a 25% local match, approximately $83,300, from Water Utilities Capital Projects Fund 503 if the grant is awarded.
Dietz described a draft conceptual site plan showing improved access between the existing parking and camping area and the boat ramp; she said grant reimbursement would cover up to 75% of eligible design and construction costs and that the city would commit to keep the facility open to the public at reasonable hours and maintain it for at least 25 years. Council approved adoption of the resolution by voice vote.
Dietz noted the addition of a public restroom is contingent on funding and on being awarded the grant; the council did not set any additional obligations beyond the 25% match recorded in the resolution.
