The Oakland Cemetery Board voted to approve its 2024 financial statement after a presentation from Finance Director Michelle Reeder.
Michelle Reeder told the board that "the total revenue was just over a $110,000 last year," with lot sales contributing about $42,000 and total expenditures of $430,766. She said wages and benefits for cemetery staff were $308,163 in 2024, up from $295,000 in 2023, a change she attributed in part to a union employee moving into the cemetery payroll under the applicable contract. Reeder also said that every endowment fund ended the year with a positive balance.
Board members discussed the figures and asked about available cash and maintenance budgets for mausoleums. Following the discussion, a board member moved to approve the financial statement "as submitted" and a second was recorded (Karen). The board approved the statement by voice vote with members responding "Aye." The board did not record a roll-call vote in the transcript.
The approved 2024 totals compare to a budgeted $462,000 in expenses; Reeder said the cemetery expended about 93% of the budgeted amount. She invited further questions after the presentation.
The board also previously approved the minutes of the September meeting earlier in the session by voice vote. The meeting adjourned later the same day.
