The Presque Isle County Board of Commissioners voted to contract with JASAR LLC, doing business as Northern Technology Services, for countywide IT support at $6,580 per month, including a $600 optional 24/7 support add-on recommended for the sheriff’s department.
County staff presented the proposal and said the base support price is $5,980 per month with a $600 optional charge for round‑the‑clock coverage. A staff presenter noted the agreement would run for 12 months after setup and allow up to 52 hours of service per month after implementation. The presenter said the board could expect “a significant savings of where we are” and estimated the change could save about $60,000 to $70,000 a year, in part because the vendor is local and hardware/markup costs would be lower.
The board discussed transition logistics, including a 30‑day overlap with the current provider so staff, departments and sheriff’s dispatch can test access and contact procedures. The point of contact for the vendor was given as Jason Bark; the vendor’s address was read into the record.
The motion to enter the 12‑month agreement with the vendor at $6,580 per month was moved, supported and approved by roll call.
The board directed staff to include further vendor detail and a department‑heads presentation at the next meeting so department leaders and the sheriff’s office can confirm contact procedures and service levels.
