The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors confirmed multiple appointments during its organizational meeting. The board approved the appointment of Doctor Benjamin Paul as the county medical examiner and appointed Kyle Bissell as Emergency Management (EMA) director for 2026. Motions for both appointments were moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.
Supervisors reviewed a long list of board and committee assignments and reappointments — including conservation board terms (Taylor Peterson to 2028, Will Spellmeyer to 2027, Bob Erasmus to 2026, Mary Miner to 2025), planning and zoning members, landfill and drainage district representatives, regional committee seats, and advisory positions. The board agreed to reach out to several incumbents to confirm willingness to serve before finalizing some appointments.
A proposal to appoint Miss Wilson as Veterans Affairs Director prompted concern from at least one supervisor and was tabled for additional discussion and outreach. The board also moved and approved a mass-approval of many committee appointments on the printed list.
