The Franklin Beer Board voted to approve a beer permit application for Red Lobster Restaurants LLC (Red Lobster #0620 at 1718 Galleria Boulevard) conditioned on the applicant providing a valid certificate of occupancy.
Staff told the board that inspections on the application are complete and staff recommends approval but that a valid certificate of occupancy is still outstanding. Staff also clarified that a disclosure on the application about a 30-day suspension involved another Red Lobster location: "it was not a beer permit suspension. It was a TABC suspension," staff said, adding that the action did not involve this location or the current owner.
Marie Surratt, identified as the managing agent and general manager for the location, told board members the restaurant is operating under the existing beer permit while the ownership change is completed and said she expects staff to be retained and trained under corporate and local guidelines. Surratt said new servers will obtain ABC cards promptly; "I think the actual limit is 60, but I give them 30, just to get it done," she said.
The board first moved to approve the application, and staff requested that the approval be conditioned on receipt of a certificate of occupancy. A board member amended the motion to make the approval contingent on that certificate; the amendment was seconded and the board approved the amended motion. The board recorded the outcome as passing on the meeting record.
