Northlake boards preview holiday events and report strong uptake for local 'detour dollars' program

On the town's consumer-promotion program, Speaker 3 said staff had collected 480 gift cards as of Nov. 19, totaling about $12,000 in face value. "Total spent at businesses has been about $17,000," Speaker 3 said, and residents may use cards through Nov. 30; businesses have until Dec. 12 to submit cards for reimbursement. Speaker 3 added that every participating business had returned at least one card, including gas stations, coffee shops and sit-down restaurants.
Board members asked about outreach; Speaker 2 and Speaker 3 said social posts and a rotating billboard on Highway 114 had been used and that a water-bill insert had also circulated. Staff said another reminder would be posted before the resident-use deadline.
The boards heard no public comment during the public-input period.
