North Platte receives 2025 concrete paving award for West 9th Street project

Mayor (unnamed) told the council the Nebraska Concrete Paving Association presented the city with a 2025 Award of Merit for the West 9th Street concrete pavement project, which the association rated the best local project for less than 30,000 square feet. The mayor said the plaque honors "our efforts to achieve quality construction through superior skills, integrity, and pride of workmanship on behalf of users everywhere."
Members of the city engineering and operations teams, identified only by first names in the meeting as Brent and Tommy, came forward to receive the plaque and thanked the council. Council members applauded the recognition.
The award citation noted the project limits as West 9th Street from Buffalo Avenue to about 300 feet west of Sherman Avenue and framed the honor as recognition of local workmanship rather than a change in policy or funding. The council then moved on to its scheduled business.
