The Atchison County Commission voted unanimously on Feb. 3 to amend the county procurement policy, increasing departmental authority for purchases from $2,500 to $3,000. The change applies to general departments; Road and Bridge retains a higher threshold of $7,500. Commissioners noted the change would reduce the number of items requiring commission approval for routine office supplies and similar purchases.
Separately, the commission approved payment of a billing statement from the county counselor, David Van Parris, for 40.5 hours of labor totaling $6,075 for January. The charge will be paid from the county counselor budget line item.
Commissioners also announced that budget hearings will be held Feb. 10–11 and that they will not hold a regular meeting next week because of the budget workshops.
