Atchison County introduces new medical director from Benedictine College

The Atchison County Commission on Feb. 3 accepted the resignation of the county’s medical director, referenced in the meeting as Dr. Lehi, and introduced a new medical director who identified himself only as Kevin and as an associate dean at Benedictine College’s new medical school.

Kevin described his background as a family physician with clinical and administrative experience across several states and said he holds unrestricted medical licenses in Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Arizona. He said he and his family moved to the area within the last year to support the college’s effort to open a medical school and signaled a willingness to collaborate with EMS and other first responders for clinical training and simulation opportunities.

David Van Parris, introduced at the meeting as the county counselor, offered legal support to the new director and welcomed the partnership with the college. Commissioners thanked the departing director for his service.
