Atchison County approves EMS training travel and $1,767 EOC generator repair

Corey Scott, the county EMS director, told the Atchison County Commission on Feb. 3 that Courtney Keegan, the EMS business office manager, needed out‑of‑state travel and training for ambulance billing renewal. Scott said the total travel cost is $2,558.88 and that the expense is budgeted. The commission approved the travel request by voice vote.
Scott also asked the commission to authorize a standing change to travel approvals for his office. Commissioners approved a motion exempting the EMS director from obtaining travel authorization for trips that do not exceed his spending authority.
On equipment, Scott reported that CK Power’s annual maintenance found a leaking block heater on the Emergency Operations Center generator. After EMS personnel performed some in‑house work to lower the estimate, the remaining repair cost was $1,767.03. Scott said he had discussed cost‑sharing with the sheriff and recommended using the emergency‑management reserve. The commission approved the purchase order and directed the payment be taken from the emergency‑management rollover balance.
No formal objections were recorded. The commission’s actions were routine approvals recorded on the meeting agenda.
