Ocala HPAB approves minutes, notes member resignation and updates on Israel Brown House

During review of the prior meeting minutes, Unidentified Speaker (S2) asked whether an announcement had been made that "Melissa had resigned." Unidentified Speaker (S1) responded, "There wasn't an announcement," while Unidentified Speaker (S4) said the resignation had been mentioned informally before the meeting. After that clarification Unidentified Speaker (S2) moved to accept the minutes; Unidentified Speaker (S5) seconded, and the motion carried by voice vote.
Board members used the board-comments portion of the agenda to share neighborhood updates. An unnamed member described nearby demolition and landscaping activity by neighbors, saying the work "started their demo" and that replacement landscaping would likely be installed.
On questions about the Israel Brown House, Bridal Miller, planner II with the city of Ocala, said staff had "gotten a couple of phone calls" about the property but that the owner had not submitted any further paperwork to the board. "As far as coming back before the board for anything else that was in that comprehensive plan, we haven't heard anything," Miller said, adding that staff had been clearing up older case files and had seen some interior work but no new COA application.
The board confirmed its next meeting for Feb. 5, 2026 and adjourned.
