Ocala historic board postpones two COA applications to Feb. 5 meeting

The Ocala Historic Preservation Advisory Board voted to postpone consideration of two Certificate of Appropriateness applications, COA 25-0042 and COA 25-0043, until the board's Feb. 5, 2026 meeting.
Charlita Whitehead, economic development project coordinator, told the board staff had encountered "some conflicting information on 1 of the applications" and asked the board to table both items because additional information was needed. "We do have to table those 2 COA applications until the next meeting," Whitehead said.
Unidentified Speaker (S2) moved to postpone COA 25-0042 to the Feb. 5 meeting; Unidentified Speaker (S5) seconded. The board voted by voice and the motion carried. The board then approved a separate motion to postpone COA 25-0043 to Feb. 5 after a second by Unidentified Speaker (S5); that motion also passed by voice vote.
Roll call at the start of the meeting indicated two members were absent and five were present; the board proceeded with votes by voice and recorded the motions as carried.
Board members and staff noted that because the meeting had already been publicly noticed (posted Dec. 17, 2025), the board still needed to convene and either act or postpone the items. Whitehead said some matters could be resolved at the staff level but that at least one application would return to the board for review.
The postponements mean applicants will await the Feb. 5 meeting for formal action. The board set Feb. 5, 2026 as the next meeting date.
