Pensacola council elects Patton president, Breyer vice president; Moore says he will not seek reelection

Council President Patton, who had been vice president, accepted the council's single nomination for president and said, "I'm happy to serve, if you'll have me." The chair asked for an acclamation vote; no members opposed and Patton was declared elected. The chair introduced the item as agenda number 20-51468 and noted the seat carries a one-year term through Nov. 24, 2026.
For the vice president role, there were two nominations: Jennifer Breyer and Delarian Wiggins. Wiggins said he would "step down and allow Councilwoman Breyer to take charge," and the council approved the consent motion by voice. Breyer thanked colleagues, saying she appreciated the confidence and looked forward to continuing the work of the council.
Midway through the meeting, Council President Moore told colleagues he would not seek reelection at the end of his current term next year, saying he wanted District 4 time to prepare and citing family considerations. Moore spoke about his family's support and expressed gratitude for the chance to serve. Multiple council members offered tributes to Moore's leadership during what several described as a challenging year.
The meeting was convened as a special session strictly limited to action items; the chair reminded attendees about decorum and a one-minute livestream delay before proceeding. With the two leadership appointments completed and no other business permitted at a special meeting, the council adjourned.
