Tom presented a proposal to enter an interlocal agreement so Washington Terrace would provide justice court services to the newly incorporated Ogden Valley City. He said staff reviewed dispatch records and estimated about 480 cases annually from the Ogden Valley area. "When it all boils down, it is anticipated that we would be receiving essentially $32,486 a year that would go to help offset the operations of our court," Tom said.
Tom and staff explained that the revenue arrangement would follow the state’s standard 50/50 split of revenues after state fees, with Ogden Valley receiving half after hard costs (interpreter, witness fees, public defender, jury costs) were deducted. Staff and council discussed how workload changes would affect judge and prosecutor pay; Tom said the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) guidance and caseload will influence compensation and that the projected workload increase (about 2–2.5 percent) should not push the city from a class 2 to a class 1 court.
A councilmember moved to approve Resolution 26‑01 to enter into the interlocal agreement with Marriott‑Slaterville City and Ogden Valley City for justice court services. The motion was seconded and approved by roll‑call vote recorded as unanimous.
