The West Palm Beach Historic Preservation Board on Jan. 27 introduced Katie Jacob as its newest member and heard the city staff report that the municipal program remains a certified local government (CLG) in good standing. Jordan Hodges, the city historic preservation planner, told the board the CLG status preserves eligibility for state grants and access to the Florida Division of Historical Resources’ technical assistance. Hodges also thanked CLG coordinator Anthony Mendez for preparing the annual submission.
Jacob was described as vice president of the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach with professional experience in programming, education and capital projects; Hodges said she has led a $40 million campaign and oversees roughly 20 annual programs. The chair reminded applicants of quasi‑judicial rules, time limits (10 minutes for applicants, three minutes for public commenters), and how ex‑parte contacts will be recorded.
Staff outlined calendar changes for late‑year meetings, proposing the November and December meetings move one week earlier (to the third Wednesday) to avoid Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks; resubmittal deadlines for items continued to February were also announced. The board did not vote on the schedule that night; Hodges said staff would finalize dates after confirming quorum availability.
