Bullhead City — The Bullhead City Council voted unanimously on Jan. 20 to accept a $60,000 grant from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to support the municipal veterinary clinic.
Human Services Director Jeff Tipton presented the grant as part of the 2025 National Shelter Initiative, telling the council the funds would be used to purchase equipment including three surgical lights and an autoclave to sterilize instruments. “For $60,000 this grant will be used to purchase equipment for our vet clinic at bark which would include 3 surgical lights and an autoclave,” Tipton said.
Tipton said the grant requires no local match and would support programs such as trap-neuter-return (TNR), spay and neuter services, and humane euthanasia when necessary. The council voted to accept the grant; no public opposition was recorded during the meeting.
The city’s animal shelter manager and Human Services staff offered to answer follow-up questions and will coordinate procurement and program implementation under the grant's terms.
