Santa Barbara LAFCO votes to dissolve County Service Area 32

The Santa Barbara Local Agency Formation Commission on Feb. 5 adopted a resolution to dissolve County Service Area 32, concluding a process the commission initiated in December after determining the district qualified as inactive.
Executive Officer Mr. Prater said a public notice for the dissolution hearing had been published and staff received no public comments as of the report’s writing. Prater recommended adoption of the resolution consistent with Government Code section 56879 and the commission proceeded with the hearing. The sheriff’s office raised no objection, and commissioners voiced no remaining concerns.
Commissioner Geyer moved to adopt the staff recommendation; the motion received a second and passed unanimously by roll call vote.
By adopting the resolution, LAFCO will remove CSA 32 from its roster of active service areas; staff said the action follows findings made in the 2021 municipal service review that identified the district as inactive. No additional changes to county revenues or service responsibilities were raised at the hearing.
The commission did not receive requests for public testimony on the item.
