Meeting presenters said the outreach will include Spanish-language materials and a February 4 community event at which the recorder, assessor and treasurer will explain how the service can help prevent or detect deed-related fraud that has targeted seniors and seasonal residents in some foothill neighborhoods. The presenter noted that county staff who help with the program include employees from San Luis who speak Spanish.
Council members and multiple attendees applauded the presentation and urged spreading the word to vulnerable populations. No council action was required; the item was presented for information and community awareness.
