The Princeton Historic Preservation Commission elected David Shore chair and Freda Howard vice chair during its Jan. 26, 2026 reorganization meeting, and appointed Ian as the commission’s recording secretary.
Members nominated Shore and Howard from the floor, then took a roll‑call vote. The chair and vice chair nominations were seconded and approved by the commissioners in the meeting’s reorganization motions. After the votes, commissioners publicly thanked outgoing chair Julie Leighton for her long service: “We can’t let the moment go without thanking Julie for her 15 years of continuous service as chair,” a member said.
The commission also addressed basic housekeeping for the year, agreeing to defer appointment of subcommittees and the formal review of minutes until a future meeting to preserve time for agenda items. The reorganization motions set leadership and administrative roles for the coming municipal year; the recording secretary appointment was handled by resolution and approved by roll call.
No substantive policy decisions were made as part of the reorganization. The meeting proceeded to scheduled preservation applications and a concept review after the leadership changes.
