Summary
The committee voted unanimously to amend CCR Title 16, Division 26, Section 2611, extending the abandonment period for California supplemental exam applications from three to five years to align with LARE and LATC retention schedules.
The Landscape Architects Technical Committee voted unanimously to approve a regulatory recommendation to amend California Code of Regulations, title 16, division 26, section 2611 to extend the abandonment period for California supplemental exam applications from three to five years.
Heather Davis, who presented the proposed amendment, said the change would align the LATC's abandonment timeframe with the landscape architecture registration exam (LARE) and the committee's records-retention schedule. Members asked for clarification about the existing one-year window for applicants to correct incomplete initial applications; staff confirmed the proposed change applies to supplemental exam abandonment and does not alter the initial-application correction period.
After a brief public-comment check (none were received), John Resinski moved to approve the recommendation and Susan Landry seconded. The vice chair called a roll-call vote; Pamela Bridal, Susan Landry, Patricia Trauth, John Resinski and Marty Armstrong all voted yes.
The measure was approved and will be forwarded to the California Architects Board as LATC's recommended language for rulemaking.
What happens next: LATC staff will include the committee's vote and the approved language in the rulemaking packet to the California Architects Board for the next steps in the regulatory process.
