Yuma County Chamber tells San Luis commission it will expand outreach and local events

Valeria Vasquez, marketing coordinator for the Yuma County Chamber of Commerce, told the San Luis Economic Development Commission the chamber is working to make membership and programming more accessible to South County communities. "San Luis and the South County are a priority for us," Vasquez said, describing outreach that includes Spanish-language social media posts, in-person visits and partnerships with city staff.
Vasquez described the chamber’s role — advocacy, networking and visibility for businesses — and said the chamber does not receive government funding, relying instead on memberships and event revenue. She highlighted planned opportunities for San Luis businesses to connect, including a planned business conference in April, a mobile business services program supported by the Secretary of State’s office, monthly mixers and a Good Morning Yuma breakfast event.
Chamber volunteers Rebecca Melgosa and Susan James described ambassador duties — attending events, introducing new members to services and helping business owners feel connected. Commissioners asked about local membership counts and requested more mixers and events in San Luis; Vasquez said exact South County membership numbers were not available but that the chamber reports more than 800 countywide members.
