The Texas Workforce Commission approved a single RFA award of $2,500,000 for an Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) statewide professional development center.
James Golsan of the Workforce Development Division presented the selection decision and said the evaluation team reviewed five eligible applicants and selected one winner for the full available award: "Staff recommends approval of 1 award in the amount of $2,500,000 for the AEL statewide professional development Center," he said. The grants are anticipated to begin in February 2026.
The RFA calls for the grantee to deliver professional development strategies and technical assistance to Texas AEL providers across topics including digital literacy, program management, adult literacy, educational technology and stakeholder integration. Commissioners moved to approve the award as presented and the motion passed.
Staff did not announce the grantee name in the open record excerpt; commissioners approved the award amount and directed staff to proceed with award execution.
