During public comment, resident Shannon Murphy asked trustees about two local concerns: a street light out at the corner of Locust and Long in New Baltimore and a persistent nuisance property at the corner of Long and New Haven. Zoning staff confirmed unlicensed vehicles were removed previously, and a scheduled court appearance was canceled after the property owner cleaned up; however, staff said accumulations have returned over time.
Zoning and enforcement staff explained that the board of health handles interior conditions but exterior accumulations are addressed through citations and, if necessary, a lawsuit or township abatement followed by a lien on the property to recover costs. Staff noted the problem is recurring and similar compliance issues exist elsewhere in the township; they said further citations may be issued if the property is not maintained.
The trustee overseeing zoning also noted a Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) meeting set for Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. concerning Crosby School parking and driveway entrance width; the township issued 13 zoning certificates last month.
