CRA renews contract with Southern Group for support services (retroactive to Dec. 1)

The Jacksonville Beach Community Redevelopment Agency on Jan. 26 approved a motion to renew a contract with the Southern Group to continue providing administrative and legislative tracking support to the CRA.
Taylor, who presented the item, described Southern Group as a longstanding contractor that “continue[s] to help us just with support” and highlighted new language in the scope clarifying legislative tracking and other services. She told the board the requested action was approval of the attached scope of services with an effective date retroactive to Dec. 1 and an expiration at the end of the fiscal year.
Speaker 3 moved to renew the contract and Speaker 2 seconded. The clerk conducted a roll-call vote; the named members called by the clerk responded affirmatively and Chair announced the motion passed.
Board members praised the value of the services. Speaker 3 noted the contractor’s ability to spot legislative flags and trends that affect CRAs and said those services are useful not only to the CRA but potentially to the larger Jacksonville Beach government. The contract term, scope and the retroactive effective date were discussed on the record; no compensation amount was provided during the meeting.
Taylor said staff will continue to bring contract renewals to the board before January of future years and will circulate the updated scope and schedule as part of regular meeting materials.
