Superintendent Dr. Bob McBride spent part of the Jan. 26 meeting brief thanking operations staff for maintaining safe access during a recent stretch of severe cold and snow. "First and foremost, bus drivers, our grounds, maintenance, and custodians for doing such a fabulous job keeping our lots clear, keeping our walkways clear, getting our kids here during very, very tough conditions," McBride said.
McBride said the district coordinates transportation and closure decisions with the National Weather Service and neighboring superintendents and asked families to "be sure to read all of the communications that we send out directly to you via email, put on our website, send out very, quickly as quickly as we can either by text or social media" so parents know why and how decisions are made.
He also recapped the district's Jan. 23 Veterans Night, saying the district celebrated 77 veterans and noted four World War II veterans who were over 100 years old. "It was an incredible community night," McBride said.
The brief did not provide additional operational details about transportation changes, nor did it list follow-up actions beyond the request that families monitor district communications.
