Mount Carmel council authorizes up to $110,000 for emergency City Hall roof repair

“We’re getting a lot of major leaking… It’s more than we can keep up with,” a city official said while describing water intrusion into the server room and other spaces. Staff advised that ADG could begin emergency repairs and estimated roughly $100,000 for the work.
Council members debated the need to act quickly and then moved to authorize the mayor and staff to proceed with ADG, setting a limit of $110,000 so work could begin without delay and with a commitment to return to council if expenditures exceed the cap. The motion was seconded and passed on a roll-call vote by present commissioners.
Council also noted additional damage risk if melting and rain continued, and members urged staff to monitor progress and report back to the council if additional approvals are required.
