The Omaha Planning Board approved a major amendment to allow secondary educational facility uses and signage adjustments for a Westside Community Schools project, granting temporary use of a small "triangle" lot for parking while construction removed about 130 stalls elsewhere on campus.
Matt Herzog of Project Advocates explained that the triangle lot provides roughly 26 temporary stalls during an on‑campus construction project. He said the district has arranged alternative parking including a church lot and expects the triangle lot to be restored and landscaped when construction concludes.
Staff noted the project is coordinating with city departments; code enforcement has begun for unauthorized parking in other areas. Condition number one in the staff report requires the triangle lot be restored to its undeveloped state prior to any sign permit issuance.
Board members approved the amendment 6–0. Staff recommended continuing coordination between the district, neighbors and code enforcement to address illegal parking and to ensure the lot is returned to landscaped condition as required.
