Pensacola City Council on Dec. 11 approved a 12‑month exclusivity agreement with a prospective advanced‑manufacturing employer identified as Project Mave, allowing the company time for due diligence on port property without the city entering competing agreements.
Economic development staff and the port director briefed the council: about 1,500 jobs would be sited on port property and about 500 administrative or engineering positions would be off‑site, staff said. The company intends to locate enclosed advanced‑manufacturing facilities and conduct noise and environmental studies; most heavy material deliveries would arrive by barge, staff reported.
Council members asked about traffic, parking and environmental impacts. Staff said the company plans to ramp hiring and could construct parking or bus employees in; environmental and noise studies were underway as part of due diligence. The 12‑month exclusivity can be cancelled if the company or funding partners fail to progress; any lease or further agreement would return to council for approval.
The measure passed unanimously, 7–0.
What happens next: The company will complete due diligence during the exclusivity period; if both sides proceed, a lease and any related budget or incentive requests will return to council for action.
