The Board of Education ratified a tentative FY2026 agreement with the Association of Educational Leaders giving Unit 2 employees a 3% cost‑of‑living adjustment, market adjustments for those below midpoint (up to 15%), modifications to involuntary reassignments and continuation of a telework pilot; AEL had ratified earlier on Jan. 20.
The Anne Arundel County Board of Education on Feb. 4 ratified a tentative agreement with the Association of Educational Leaders (AEL) covering fiscal year 2026.
District staff and AEL negotiators told the board the agreement provides a 3% cost‑of‑living adjustment for all Unit 2 employees and allows market adjustments for employees currently paid below the midpoint of their salary bands, not exceeding the midpoint or a maximum of 15% in any single adjustment. The agreement also includes modifications to policies on involuntary reassignments and continues a Unit 2 telework pilot.
Staff said AEL ratified the tentative agreement on Jan. 20. AEL representatives present thanked negotiators and described the deal as the result of difficult conversations that reached a settlement out of impasse. The board voted to ratify the agreement by roll call; the motion passed 8–0.
District staff will proceed with the administrative steps required to implement the contract terms for FY2026.
