The Board of Commissioners of the City of Red Bank approved Ordinance 26‑1298, appointing attorney Brian Koss to preside over the city court in the absence of Judge Johnny Houston from Feb. 23 through March 24, 2026.
The ordinance was read as a second and final reading and a motion to approve was offered by Commissioner Terry Holmes and seconded by Commissioner Fairbanks Harvey. The city recorder called a recorded roll call; each named vote was read as "Yes," and the presiding chair announced the motion carried.
City staff said the interim appointment will allow court operations to continue uninterrupted while Judge Houston is unavailable. The city manager earlier noted that interim judge Brian Hawkes has been covering court duties in the judge’s absence and that court operations are proceeding without interruption.
No public comment was recorded on the ordinance during the segment provided. The board proceeded to new business following the vote.
