Fairfield Township adopts corrected language for 2.99-mill police levy resolution

Fairfield Township trustees, meeting in emergency session on Feb. 3, adopted Resolution No. 26-20 to correct statutory language in a previously adopted police levy so it can be accepted by the Board of Elections.
Clerk Kim Lipinski explained the township had passed the police-levy measure in January but the prosecutor's office and elections staff returned the filing for specific statutory wording; the emergency meeting corrected the text and approved resubmission. "This would be for the police levy, the 2.99 police levy," the clerk said while explaining the item.
A trustee moved to adopt Resolution 26-20 and a second was recorded. Roll-call responses were recorded as 'Yes' from Trustee Burding, Trustee Harkmeyer and Trustee Mcabee; the chair announced the resolution adopted. Trustees then moved to adjourn and closed the emergency session at 1:42 p.m.
Township officials said the action updates only the language to conform with the prosecutor's recommendations and does not change the substance of the previously adopted levy.
