Miami Lakes plans Arts Without Limits exhibition for April, sets March 1 deadline for submissions

The Special Needs Advisory Board is planning an Arts Without Limits exhibition on April 10 and set a March 1 submission deadline for participating artists.

Organizers said the registration form will ask for name, age, a short artist bio, the title of the work and a photograph of the artwork including dimensions. Staff recommended limiting the exhibition to framed or canvas work that can be hung for the one‑month display; organizers said small sculptures would not be accepted because of display limitations.

The board discussed a target cap of about 20 artists (staff noted the City of Hialeah had offered entries) and the need to confirm hanging space. The board also approved a motion to rent high‑top tables and linens for the opening night with a budget cap (roughly $250 for tables and linens). Volunteers and town staff will follow up on liability language for pieces displayed for a month and on finalizing the application form.

Next steps: staff will publish the submission form with a March 1 deadline, enforce size and framing guidelines, and confirm the number of accepted artists once submissions are received.
