Chair Dan Strauss said the ordinance is intended to speed delivery of Sound Transit 3 permit reviews by creating position authorizations across multiple departments and adding oversight capacity. "We're cutting red tape so that we can build this needed infrastructure faster," Strauss said during the meeting.
The bill, as read into the record by the clerk, would amend ordinance 127,156 (the 2025 budget and capital improvement program) to change appropriations, create exempt and nonexempt positions, and ratify certain prior acts to support expedited permit review for Sound Transit 3 work in Seattle.
