Blake Peoples, the city’s Building Programs Coordinator, presented multiple cases. For a commercial property at 2203 W. Urban Boulevard staff reported steady progress converting a former bakery to a white‑box shell and asked the owner to appear at the Nov. 19, 2025 meeting for an update; the commission approved that request and continued the case. At 15 West Pioneer Drive staff reported exterior repairs and issued permits for fencing and alterations; the commission continued that case to November so staff can gain interior access and verify compliance.
In one vacant single‑family case staff asserted five missed deadlines and requested civil penalties of $15 per violation per day for eight violations, totaling $18,480 for the period requested; the commission voted to adopt staff’s recommendation. In two other residential cases the commission approved staff requests to reduce or set civil penalties and to allow city inspections: Oakland Drive (civil penalties reduced to $5 per violation per day for three listed violations — total $1,410 — and staff authorized ongoing access to inspect) and Missy Lane (civil penalties $10 per violation per day for six violations, totaling $3,780, and staff authorized inspections with demolition authority after Oct. 24, 2025 if repairs are not completed).
For a dilapidated house on Dale Place, staff recommended inspection authority through Nov. 23, 2025, and demolition authority after Nov. 24 with fines up to $1,000 per day for missed deadlines. Owner John Philip Reeves described health problems and vandalism that have delayed repairs and said he is attempting to sell or clean up the property; the commission extended the repair/demolition timeline to Dec. 23–24, 2025 (a 90‑day window) and authorized inspections.
All motions adopting staff recommendations or the amended orders recorded in the meeting were approved unanimously.
The commission closed the meeting after taking action on all scheduled code‑enforcement items.
